According to Goodreads I’m currently reading 18 books. Many of those are books I started at some point and then I sat them down for one reason or another and never got back to them. I keep meaning to. At the moment though I am actively reading 4 books. Actively for me, means I’m reading some amount of pages at least a few times a week.
Of these four books the one I’ve started the longest ago is The Writer’s Journey: Mythic Structure for Writers by Christopher Vogler. Currently I am sitting on page 23 of just over 400. So far I’ve only read the section with a general overview of the 12 steps in the hero’s journey. I’m making very slow progress in this book largely because it is not as exciting as some of my other reads at the moment. I am attempting to read a few pages a day on this one with plans to have it finished sometime in the first quarter of the year. I’m not rushing this book, but definitely do want to finish it.
The next book I’m currently reading is An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. This book is about a woman who takes part in a survey at a local college and things just get more and more strange with the professor asking the survey questions. I’m only on page 77 or 371, but I’m enjoying the read. This is the book I’m most actively reading at the moment. I answer survey like questions for a large part of my current freelance project so this creepy book is hitting a little close to home for me and I just can’t put this book down when I finally find a few minutes to read.
Book three that I am currently reading is Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis. This book was everywhere for a while. It was the Boho Berry Book Club pick for July and I’ve had it on hold at my library since they added it to their collection in September. It finally came in on the 18th of January and I started reading it on the 20th. I need to make sure I finish this book and get it back to the library in time because others are still on the list waiting for it. I’m on page 33 of 220 so far and have made a list with how many pages a day I need to read in order to have it done before it is due. I’m enjoying it so far. It is filled with affirmations which I find inspiring to hear, but don’t actually do anything with them, but I’m still finding them inspiring as I read them.
The fourth book I’m actively reading is Wellspring of Magic by Jan Fields. This is the current read aloud book for my kindergartner. We started it recently after finishing the Princess in Black series. We’re only the first chapter in so far, but my daughter keeps asking to read more than the pages assigned for the day so I have a feeling we’ll be making more progress in that book than I had planned.
Have you read any of these? What are you reading at the moment?
