According to Goodreads I am currently reading 17 books. Some of these I haven’t read a single page in for months. Today I’m going to look at what the books are, how far I made it in them, and if I’m going to make myself continue it now, or take it off the currently reading list to start over at a later time. I will start with the book I have been currently reading for the longest time and work my way to the most recently started books.
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. This is my favorite book. And I’m in the middle of a re-read in which I was adding annotations and highlights. I don’t have a lot of time for reading right now so I think I’ll set this one aside for the time being and come back to it later when I am better able to focus on how much I enjoy this book.
Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. This book is part of my original color coded TBR. I am 78 pages in to the book. I probably won’t bother with starting it over, but will pick it up soon so I can wrap up that first color coded TBR project.
Will & I by Clay Byars. I am 22 pages in to the this book. I started it for a read a thon and never finished it. I’ll set this one aside for now and start it over when I get back to it some day.
Love That Baby by Mildred E Cawlfield. This is a religious based parenting book that has no ratings on Goodreads. It was a gift from my father in law. I read 30 pages and set it down. I’ll remove this from my currently reading list.
How to Talk to Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber. This book I made it 42 pages in to and we can definitely use more work on that subject so hopefully I’ll find time to continue in that book soon.
Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski. I made it 90 pages in to this one. This is a book about sex and (TMI) there isn’t any of that going on in our house right now. The chemo my husband is on means we absolutely can not conceive a child right now or it is very bad. I’ll set this aside for now and maybe get back to it if things every feel slightly normal in our family again.
Getting Things Done by David Allen. With this book I made it to page 54. Right now I’m just working on getting through each day with none of us dying. I don’t really have time to work on systems to streamline things. We have to be where we have to be for whichever test he needs next and that is enough for now. I will hopefully come back to this book because I love the concept, but I can’t focus on any big changes right now.
Real Love by Sharon Salzberg. I made it to page 9 of this book and don’t have time for this sort of self reflection at this time. I’ll set it down for now and plan to pick it up later.
The Self Love Experiment by Shannon Kaiser. In this book I haven’t even made it out of the roman numeral pages yet. Same story as the last book. No time for that kind of focus on myself right now.
She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb. This was another re-read of a favorite book in order to annotate it. I’ve made it to page 18 apparently. I’ll set this one down for now too.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. This is yet another re-read. I tried to read this one again before we went to see the movie for our anniversary last year. I made it to page 56. I’ll set this one down for now too.
It’s OK Not to Share by Heather Shumaker. This parenting book I made it to page 25. I’m trying to survive the days. I can’t focus on renegade rules right now. We just need to make it through the day. I do hope to get back to this one at some point though.
The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. I made it through only the 20 or so pages of pre book pages. This is another case of, I just don’t have time for a new system for anything right now. Definitely plan to read and implement this system later.
The Writer’s Journey by Christopher Vogler. I don’t have this book on me right now, but I am absolutely continuing it. It is part of my books about writing, reading project.
Wellspring of Magic by Jan Fields. This book is a book we will be continuing. It is the current read aloud for my daughter’s kindergarten.
Blaze by Avery Ford. This is an ebook on my kindle that I started when I wanted something easy to read. It is a m/m romance and it’s really good, but I’ll be setting this one aside.
Y: The Last Man: Vol. 7 by Brian K Vaughan. I’m about half way through this one and plan to finish it tonight.
That leaves only 5 books on my currently reading shelf. That makes me way happier. How many books are on you currently reading?
