August TBR

My TBR went very well for July so I’m doing another one for August.

My sister in law, my late husband’s sister, wants to start reading some of the books he loved with me. I’m not sure I’m ready, but she is, so we’re starting in August with The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. She chose. This will be my third read of this book and my second this year alone. You’ve just seen my review for this book within the past week or two and I don’t have high hopes that I will enjoy it more on a third read. A post with the rest of the books I currently have on my Jason Loved That Book list will be coming up later this month. My sister in law and I will be working our way through the list together.

The second book on my TBR is from my August 2018 haul revisit. I will be reading State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. This book I wanted to read after reading about it in Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert last year and I’ve heard really good things about it, but it’s not my usual genre so I’m not sure what to expect.

After those two choices I let Pepper chose prompts from my TBR jar until I reached the 50ish pages a day I can realistically read. She chose three prompts and these are the books that matched them.

  1. A book out of my comfort zone- Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (Romance is not usually my interest and politics are definitively not my interest)
  2. The first book I saw on my Instagram feed, that I own-The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic
  3. A book by my favorite author- Us Against You by Fredrik Backman

Five books, fifty-five pages a day. Life is unpredictable, but this should be doable for me. I always hope to read a crazy amount more though so I can read a lot more books every month. I can’t wait to get in these books and see which ones I love.
