My TBRs have been going really well so I plan to keep them going for the time being.
This month I plan to read The Stainless Steel Rat by Harry Harrison for my Jason book, a list of books I have that my late husband loved.
The book I chose from my 2018 haul revisit is The Girls by Emma Cline
The books on grief I plan to read this month are
- How to Survive the Loss of a Love by Melba Colgrove
- Widow to Widow by Genevieve Davis Ginsburg
And the books from my TBR prompt jar are
- Things my Son Needs to Know by Fredrik Backman
- Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi
- The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate
- The Far Field by Madhuri Vijay
- Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames
I’m not sure which of these I’m the most excited to read this month. What are you most excited to read in September?
It’s a long time since I saw a blogger mention the TBR jar. They were so popular a few years ago but then disappeared. I tried the approach and spent ages cutting up those bits of paper. But I’m afraid when I pulled the slip out it didn’t suit my mood so I’d keep pulling out a slip until I found one that did. Not quite how it is supposed to work!

Haha My jar is filled with prompts like my favorite author or a short book or something with a blue cover so I still have some choice. I also don’t choose my whole tbr that way. My four year old loves to choose the papers for me so it’s a fun time for both of us to craft my tbrs. We use jars for many things right now. Some of them are part of battling magical thinking as part of her grief therapy after my husband/her father died in June. We’re pretty good at accepting whatever fate the jars give us at this point 😀
