We’re just about half way through NaNoWriMo and I’m just about half way through my 50,000 word writing goal. Hooray! That means I’ve been doing what I’m supposed to be doing, writing 1667 words every single day this month.
It has not been easy. I was ready to call it quits entirely on day five. Pepper had a really bad behavior day and I didn’t have any time to write all day and I finally got her in to bed and I was exhausted too. The last thing in the world I wanted to do was to get up and write 1667 words, but I did it. Honestly, the only reason I think I didn’t quit that day was because I didn’t want to tell my grief counselor and my aunt and everyone else cheering me on that I had given up. Peer pressure for the win.
I have met my word goal every day of the month so far. I have not been behind even once and I don’t know how I did that. Even when I had my husband for backup I had days where I wrote less and had to play catch up, but on my own with the kid and no time off from her at all the first half of this month for various reasons I have met my goal every single day. I am so proud of myself.
So far I have earned two of my rewards. Two sticker mosaic books. I have been greatly enjoying them. You can see the pictures Pepper and I have been making here. You can also see my daily NaNoWriMo word count check in’s here.
So far I have been having way more fun then I thought I would. I’m glad I tried it and I’m pretty optimistic that I will be able to finish my November novel goals.
Are you participating this year? How are your word counts looking?
